Yachtclub “Rotterdam” in Rotterdam, Netherlands

For over 100 years there have been sailing activities and regatta’s being organised at the yacht-clubs in Rotterdam and still today the venue is yearly the location for many events including some of the biggest regatta’s in the Netherlands.

Unified Sailing events took place in 2013 at the “Rotterdam Regatta” and in 2014 for the first Open Dutch Championship Unified Sailing. In this last event 12 teams from Holland and Belgium participated. At this moment 7 “Rotterdam” teams, with a total of 14 Unified athletes and 7 Unified partners, train for the upcoming Open Dutch Championship Unified Sailing 2015 in Sneek.

Stichting Plons (in English; Splash Foundation) is a Dutch Charity Organisation, based in Rotterdam at the Yachtclub Rotterdam and is founded in 2004. Over 140 volunteers serve on a yearly basis sailing activities (leisure) to over 1000 participants with disabilities.

Stichting Plons started recruitment selection and training for Paralympic Sailors in 2011 and started recruitment, selection and training for Special Olympics Sailors in 2013.

Some of our Paralympic sailor are now in the race for RIO 2016 and the Paralympic Worlds 2016.

Our Unified sailors raced regatta;s at the Special Olympic National Games 2014 in Friesland, Catalunya Games 2014 in Callela en Barcelona and in 2015 the European Sailing Regatta in Bregenz – Austria

The World Summer Games 2015 in Los Angeles and in 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
